Era University, Lucknow, celebrated the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY) with Community-Centric events that emphasized the theme "Yoga for One Earth, One Health." The university demonstrated its commitment to community well-being and holistic health by organizing programs that brought together students, faculty, elderly citizens, and members of the transgender community.
The day commenced with a mass yoga session organized for students and faculty members from the Departments of Physiotherapy, Era College of Nursing, and Pharmacy, held from 6:30 AM to 7:45 AM. The event was virtually linked with the live broadcast of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s address, reinforcing the national spirit of Yoga Day. Under the guidance of certified yoga instructor Mrs. Anjali, participants engaged in asanas, pranayama, and mindfulness techniques aimed at promoting mental clarity and emotional well-being. Prof. (Dr.) Sumit Asthana, Head, Department of Physiotherapy, addressed the gathering and spoke about the transformative power of yoga as a lifestyle and health discipline.
As an initiative towards Gender-diverse inclusion, a special yoga and fitness session was organized for the transgender community associated with Sabrang Clinic, Lucknow. The event was presided over by Prof. (Dr.) Abbas Ali Mahdi, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, and witnessed the participation of dignitaries including Ms. Salma, President of the National Transgender Foundation, and Mr. Abhishek, Director, Sabrang Clinic. In his address, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Abbas Ali Mahdi, spoke about origin & importance of International Day of Yoga & also assured that Era University will provide the transgender community with equal opportunities in education, OPD services & hospital facilities, thereby promoting dignity, equality & empowerment for all.
