Research Cell was started under the direct supervision of Director Academics seven years back and saw the beginning of organized Research activities in this college, with a number of Extramural Research studentships & a number of Research Projects of ICMR in collaboration with CSMMU. The Research activities of the college were later recognized by ICMR, DST & CSIR in 2010 & a SIRO certificate was awarded for 3 years in 2010-2012, WHICH HAS NOW BEEN RENEWED TILL 2015.

Era’s Lucknow Medical College now has a fully fledged Research Cell, being managed by few of the faculty members, a monitoring committee with its CHAIRMAN and a DIRECTOR OF RESEARCH. This is supported by an INSTITUTIONAL ETHICS COMMITTEE constituted on the patterns and guidelines of ICMR and has 13 committee members, headed by a CHAIRMAN (faculty & scientist from outside this college). An Animal Ethics Committee has also been constituted. Faculty members of different disciplines are its members. An “INSTITUTIONAL COMMITTEE FOR STEM CELL RESEARCH & THERAPEUTICS” has also been created. The Research Cell is promoting and coordinating various academic and research activities of the Institute. Every Thursday, a clinical meeting is held in which the clinical departments present at least one case of academic and clinical interest. On the 3rd Thursday of each month, the faculty members have invited present a summary of a research paper presented in the international or national conference by them or the summary of their completed Research Project.

To create an atmosphere for Research amongst the faculty and, to initiate them into research and for their CAPACITY BUILDING in order to obtain Extramural grants, the management decided to start Intramural Research grants in the year 2010. During the last 3 years, a total of 70 Intramural Research projects were applied for. Moreover, as an unparallel initiative, a total of 14 Intramural UG STS (Short Term Studentship) Research projects were started for undergraduate MBBS students & 4 projects to post-graduate students. The third cycle of projects started in 2012-2013, 4th cycles of projects in 2014. In the year 2013, eleven STS-PG (Post Graduates) projects were approved. In the year 2014, the institution had 07 ICMR UG-STS sanctioned and 04 Intramural STS Projects are running.

To acquaint the PGs and Junior faculty about Research Methodology, CAPACITY BUILDING RESEARCH METHODOLOGY TRAINING WORKSHOPS are being organized. In the last organized, IN 2010-11, A TOTAL OF 78 PARTICIPANTS INCLUDING JUNIOR FACULTY, RESIDENTS, AND RESEARCH SCHOLARS WERE TRAINED, in 2012 2nd training was held. The next a “MODULE BASED RESEARCH METHODOLOGY TRAINING WORKSHOP” to produce “Master Trainers” from 19th November 2011. Comprising of 15 modules, one on each Saturday under the direct involvement of Director AIIMS Bhopal, and have other accomplished and nationally reputed speakers.

All completed projects have their projects with a unique registration number, and summary in Research Cell, with complete Research file. Till date, 31 projects have been completed and presented before the Expert Committee. In the year of 2013, faculty of different departments had published 130 papers in referred Journals (63 in National & 67 in International Journals).

  • Obtaining Research Material.
  • Technical manpower for doing work.
  • Transport for field studies.
  • Purchasing chemicals/ kits for Research.
  • Give a grant to Faculty/Residents to present their Research work in Conferences.
  • Library assistance and provide all logistic support in terms of money, knowledge, and guidance for doing Research.
  • Research Books in a separate Library in Research Cell.
  • Sending Faculty and Residents for Research Training in other institutions in their specialty to gain experience in new Clinical/Basic Sciences areas.
