A "Lamp Lighting Ceremony" was conducted by Era College of Nursing students, Era University, 2018 batch on 2nd March 2019. Prof. (Dr.) Sabra Habib, an ex-Professor of Lucknow University and a well-known motivational speaker was the Chief Guest at the ceremony.
Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Abbas Ali Mahdi presided over the function. Prof. Mastan Singh, Dean, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, Prof. P.K. Sharma, Chief Proctor, Prof. Anu Chandra, Registrar, Col. D. Wasunkar, Col. Arvind Kumar, Medical Superintendent, and Dr. Khalid Shamsi, Deputy Medical Superintendent also attended the function.
Nursing Teachers; Ms. Godhuli Ghosh and Ms. Swastika Das received the light from the Principal & Dean, Era College of Nursing, Lt. Col. Reena Bhowal and students marched on the symphony by Pandit Ravi Shankar and received the light from their teachers in a traditional manner. The "nursing pledge" was given by the Dean, Faculty of Nursing, Lt. Col. Prof. Rina Bhowal.
An encouraging speech was delivered by Prof. Sabra Habib calling upon the young and budding nurses to work selflessly to alleviate the pain and sufferings of the patients. Speaking on the occasion, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mahdi said that nursing is a very noble profession and a lot is expected from nurses including sympathetic attitude, discipline, dedication and devotion towards their job. The ceremony was concluded by a patriotic dance performance by Era College of Nursing students.
