Message From Head of Department

“At the heart of internal medicine lies a commitment to listen, learn, and lead with compassion.”
Welcome to the Department of Medicine.
As the cornerstone of clinical care and academic excellence in our institution, the Department of Medicine offers a comprehensive and multidisciplinary platform for both patient care and medical education.
Our department is structured into well-established clinical units, each led by a team of experienced Professors, Associate Professors, Assistant Professors, and Senior Residents. Together, we deliver round-the-clock, evidence-based care to thousands of patients annually through our bustling Outpatient (OPD) and Inpatient (IPD) services.
We provide daily speciality care in Neurology, Cardiology, Rheumatology, Diabetology, Gastroenterology, Haematology and Endocrinology. Our inpatient services include:

  • Male and female general wards.
  • A Medicine High Dependency Unit (HDU),A fully equipped Medicine Intensive Care Unit (M-ICU).A fully state of the art Cardiac Care Unit.

The department is further strengthened by its advanced procedural and diagnostic capabilities:
  • A dedicated daily endoscopy unit for upper GI, lower GI, and therapeutic procedures.
  • An interventional cardiology wing with a modern Cath Lab, where daily procedures including Percutaneous Coronary Interventions (PCI), thrombolysis, and other advanced cardiac interventions are performed.
  • A Neurology unit capable of performing acute stroke thrombolysis, neurological diagnostics, and neuro-rehabilitation coordination.
  • A fully functional multi bedded dialysis unit that runs haemodialyisis, and sustained low-efficiency dialysis.

In academics, we are deeply involved in mentoring both undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) students. Our faculty conducts regular clinical postings, lectures, and bedside teachings for three concurrent MBBS batches, and supervises the academic and clinical training of 39 postgraduate residents. We believe that medicine is best learned through clinical immersion, critical questioning, and compassionate patient care.
Research is a growing pillar of our department. With numerous national and international publications, and over 25 active intramural research projects led by residents, we encourage a strong academic foundation and evidence-based inquiry. The Department of Medicine remains committed to nurturing doctors who are not only clinically competent but also humane, ethical, and prepared to serve society in its ever-changing health landscape.
