Prof. Sushma Gupta is currently the Head of Department, Physiology at Era’a Lucknow Medical College and Hospital. Prior to this she was working as Professor & head of Department Physiology at GSVM medical College, thereafter she joined the Teerthanker Mahaveer medical College, Moradabad in the same capacity. Her association with Era has been for over eight years. She completed her MBBS (1969) from Lady Harding Medical College, New Delhi and MD (1974) from King George’s Medical College, Lucknow. She is a renowned teacher in Physiology with a vast teaching experience of more than 45 years.
She has a distinction of being the first Physiologist from the state of uttar Prades to have been awarded MNMS by National Academy of Medical Science, India in the year 1988. She has published more than 60 research papers in various national and international scientific journals of high repute. Prof. gupta has also been invited to several national and international scientific meets both at home and overseas. Her work on antidiabetic effect of Allium cepa has been well cited in standard text.
Besides being an efficient and effective teacher and mentor both for undergraduate and postgraduate students, she has also been the guide to several postgraduate students. Prof. Gupta is a life member of APPI and International Society of Heart Research (India Section). She has also served as Secretary of IMA, Jhansi Branch.
Department of Physiology is developing under guidance of Prof. (Mrs.) Shushma Gupta MD. MNAMS.The department is engaged in undergraduate teaching of MBBS students as well as teaching of paramedical staff.
